Gloucester Brewing Company

Mike & Laura Brewer started GBC in 2018 and when they wanted to grow the business and expand their facilities they turned to the Gloucester Loan Fund.

“We learned about the loan fund through Chesapeake Bank, who mentioned that through it, we could get a zero-interest loan for the brewery.

In the first year, the loan allowed us to buy furniture, shelves, equipment, storage, and other goods to set up the brewery. We also used it to build larger decks + expand our outdoor area.

The whole experience working with the loan fund was easy, it was really simple to apply and the whole process was done in a matter of days. The loan fund helped us to become more efficient in how we operated.”

Kelsick Market

Paige Williams wanted to expand her business after purchasing the Main Street Market from the former owner. Paige was excited about the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to the beloved establishment and hoped to create a welcoming space where people could not only shop but also connect and feel part of a vibrant neighborhood.

“The loan fund was recommended to me by the Gloucester Main Street Association. We were able to use the money for capital funds during COVID, which helped the cash flow of the business during a difficult period of time when we were struggling.

It was easy to apply and extremely easy to work with the loan fund!”

Med Spa on Main

Kacki Haggerty has served people in Gloucester for over 20 years as a Nurse Practitioner with Direct Access Medicine. Her latest endeavor brought a new business to Main Street, Med Spa on Main.

“I found out about the loan fund through information provided by Gloucester Main Street Association. The application process was very straightforward and did not need a lengthy application. I simply met with the loan fund administrator and provided a business plan. I was able to use the money to renovate the second floor of our existing medical practice to create MedSpa on Main, my aesthetics practice.

Without the loan, I would not have been able to transform a dated office space into the inviting medical spa environment that it is today. My business has grown significantly over the past six years and part of that is due to the help I received from the fund. It was a simple process made even better by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff managing the fund.”
